We are privately owned and operated and thus require community support and contribution for our investigations. Your matter is important to us. We offer you own services to investigate and prosecute your matter. Here are the steps we offer in exchange for payments.
1. Investigation
The investigator, takes statements and collects evidence to be used in criminal prosecutions.
2. Brief assessment/charges laid
We will go ahead with a prosecution if we can answer yes to two questions.
3. Charging or starting proceedings
If charges are laid, the defendant will be notified of the charge, they could be sent a summons and the date.
4. Committal proceeding
At a committal hearing, a magistrate will listen to the evidence and decide if it’s enough for the defendant to be prosecuted and convicted.
5. Hearing
There is no jury and the magistrate makes all the decisions and judgments.
6. Trial
A trial takes place before a judge and a jury.
7. Sentencing
After someone has been found guilty, the judge or magistrate will decide the appropriate penalty.
8. Compensation
You “should” receive compensation for your suffering in the matter.
